Back on the East Coast (With A Glance West)

March 16, 2009

Our flight from L.A. was cancelled yesterday, leaving Dad and me sitting at the airport for awhile. (In an odd twist, I had to remove not only my shoes but also my sweatshirt to get through airport security, but they let through a pocketknife I’d forgotten to slide off my keychain.) We got back safely late last night, and now I’m spending today — my birthday! — finishing up a bundle of reviews for the Washington Post.

Just before Dad and I departed from the West Coast, I was pleased to read  the L.A. Times’ review of Philip Kerr’s A Quiet Flamea novel that’s on my bedside table right now as well. Be sure to check out critic Sarah Weinman’s commentary — thoughtful and well-written as always — and the novel itself, of course.
